| What
exactly do Recruitment Organisations do? |
The role of Recruitment Organisations is to match the skills and experience
of the job hunter with suitable positions that recruiting companies
(their Clients) have placed with them. A Recruitment Organisation's
success is governed by their relationship with their Client companies.

| SCI
works in partnership with many major Clients across the UK and is
updating its list of new vacancies daily, but we cannot ‘guarantee’ to find you the ideal job opportunity. |
Do Recruitment Organisations
charge job hunters for placing them in jobs?
No, UK law forbids Recruitment Organisations from charging any job hunter
any kind of fee for helping them obtain work. Recruitment Organisations
are paid a fee by the client’s who enlist their help to find suitable
recruits.
Are most Recruitment Organisations positions temporary positions?
This really depends on the Recruitment Organisation. At SCI we try and
strike a balance between temporary, fixed term contract and permanent
positions. However due to the nature of certain industries within the
scientific field, in particular the larger pharmaceutical and biotechnology
companies, many positions do initially start as temporary positions.
This should not be considered a bad thing as many of the blue chip
companies we work with usually recruit from their temporary staff when
permanent
positions become available.
| Why

How do I register my CV?
Registration is quick and easy. Simply click on the ‘Register’ button on our Home page and you will be presented with a short form to complete.
If you have an existing CV you can upload it in to our ‘CV Manager’. All the text in your CV will be read automatically and entered in to SCI’s online 'CV Manager’ form. You can edit data and enter further information if everything isn’t automatically put into the right place.
Once completed, you can view, print and download your CV in a number of styles and formats.
When you have completed the CV registration process you will be able to search all of our current vacancies and quickly apply through the website.
I do not have an existing CV. How can I register?
If you do not have an existing CV, you can complete the ‘CV Manager’ form manually. This allows you to create a professional, well organised CV that provides us with all the information we need to find you the best possible job. Creating your CV is quick and easy, if you don't finish building your CV in one go, 'CV Manager’ will remember where you were up to, so you can carry on next time you log in.
Once completed, you can view, print and download your CV in a number of styles and formats.
When you have completed the CV registration process you will be able to search all of our current vacancies and quickly apply through the website. If you wish to submit your CV as a word document, you can email it to enqs@sci-search.com, however, you won't be able to apply for jobs through the SCI website.
I uploaded my CV, but data is in the wrong place, or is not shown
When you upload your CV, the text in your CV is read automatically by a secure online ‘parser’. A parser is software that automatically recognises words or phrases and does its best to put them in the right data fields.
SCI use a very modern state-of-the-art parser, and it is 95% accurate on average. But if your original CV had some unusual formatting or phrases the results may not be that good.
The solution is to look at each part of the ‘CV Manager’ and to cut and paste text from your original CV as required, in order to build up a good looking CV that you can then down load in a number of styles and formats.
I registered with you a while ago; can I register again through the website?
Yes, if you sent your CV as an attachment and haven't yet registered through the website, go to the "register" section of the Job Hunters page. You will then be able to upload your existing CV in to our "CV Manager" and apply for jobs quickly online.

What happens after I have registered?
After you have registered your CV with SCI your details will be copied to all SCI consultants, and they will compare your details to the person requirements for all current vacancies. They will then call or email you to discuss these opportunities, and all new opportunities, as they arise.
However, it is still important to look at the vacancies page on SCI’s web site on a regular basis, as new vacancies are posted every working day.
What happens after I apply for specific jobs?
When you apply on-line for a specific job, your interest in that job will be flagged to the SCI consultant dealing with that vacancy. They will compare your details to the person requirements for the vacancy and, if there is a good match, they will then call or email you to discuss the job.
If you do not hear back from SCI within a couple of days, please call, quoting the job reference number, and ask to speak to the appropriate consultant. They will be happy to help and give advice with regard to your suitability for the role.

How will I know if I’m selected for an interview?
If SCI’s Client wants to meet you for an interview, the company will inform the appropriate consultant in SCI and the consultant will then get in touch with your straight way to discuss suitable dates.
What happens before I go for interview?
Once we've arranged an interview with a company for you to attend the SCI consultant will discuss the key things to get across at interview, and they send you a full ‘interview pack’ to help you prepare for the interview. This will also provide you with as much information as possible about the role and the company.
What happens when I go for an interview?
You can have a look at our online guide. Click here.
After your interview we will call you to ask how it went. We will then speak to the company to get their feedback. This information will help us either modify our search for work for you or to help secure the role on your behalf.
